Diwali Puja is an indispensable part of Diwali rituals. It is a festival when we welcome the Goddess Lakshmi to our house and invocate the blessings of Lord Ganesha before the starting of the Hindu New year. The entire aura is filled with positive vibes as people belonging to different regions perform the rituals in their own way.
We all know that Diwali has no one dimension to it. It has as many meanings as there are different cultures in India. So, the rituals of offering prayers vary from one region to another. People belonging to Sikh religion go to Gurudwaras in order to bow their head before the Guru, who put the foundation of Golden Temple on the auspicious Diwali day. Whereas, People belonging to Jain religion commemorate the founder of their religion, Lord Buddha by giving his idol a milk bathe. Thus, there are diverse ways of celebrating the festival of Diwali.

Yet there is one standard Puja process followed by all Hindus. As per them a step by step traditional Pujan is performed. On the festive day, people wake up early and take bathe. They clean their homes and decorate them as well. Although, the mahurat for performing the Puja rituals is generally during the evening time, but the preparations start right from the beginning of the day. The room where Puja is going to be performed is cleansed. Then oil filled clay diyas are lit in order to drive away the negative vibes around. Puja Thali is prepared, which contains incensed sticks, dhoop, a bell, some silver coins with images of deities on it, roli and rice wet mixture, flower petals and a lamp (diya). The idols of the deity are given a rose water bath and only then are placed in the Puja room. The offerings to the deities in the form of sweets and other edible items are given, which are later distributed among all. The puja process ends with the arti of Lord Ganesha and Goddess Lakshmi. While singing the arti, the same is performed too taking the puja thali in the right hand and moving it the clockwise manner before the image of the Gods.
Offering prayers on the festival has a greater significance than just being a ritual. By doing this, we attain strength of mind and that of soul that govern our existence on this earth. We thank God for making us able enough to survive through hardships. Specialists show a great impact of performing Puja on our sub conscious mind. It creates a tranquil effect on our mind that reflects on our life style too. We adopt humble ways and become contended. Moreover, it helps a lot fighting with the dark side of oneself.
Thus, Diwali offers a wonderful opportunity to nurture the best within us and enjoy the beautiful life bestowed upon us by the Almighty.
