Think of Diwali and what immediately comes in our mind is a colorful display of fireworks glittering in the sky. Bursting fireworks has always been a favorite Diwali activity amongst Kids and youngsters especially. Diwali celebrations are incomplete and bland without these firework's display. The fifteenth night of Karthika is, however, a no moon night, but one cannot feel scarcity of light with fireworks making different shapes in the sky.
Fireworks signify an expression of happiness that is prevalent in the heart of every Hindu on the festival of Diwali. We all know that Diwali brings along an auspicious beginning of the Hindu New Year. It is also the day when Goddess Lakshmi is believed to visit houses of all her devotees, thereby blessing them with wealth and health. The tradition of bursting fireworks finds it's origin in China. Hindus adopted the method in order to jubilate one of their most important festivals.

In today's times, there is a wide range of fireworks available in the market. Among the lighter versions of firecrackers come anaar (flower pots), phuljharhi, chakris etc. These are loved by children due to their glittering colors and sparkles. Youngsters enjoy playing with fireworks that go high in the sky and produce a kaleidoscope like image.
Amidst so much of fun, gaiety and excitement, there can be mis-happenings while playing with these firecrackers. To avoid facing any kind of an accident, we have jotted down a list of precautions that should be taken as you are engrossed into Diwali celebrations:
- Use firecrackers outdoor and that too far away from vehicles like car or a two wheeler.
- Never ignite the firecracker while it is still in your hands.
- Children should accompany an adult as they burst crackers and other fireworks.
- Keep a bucket full of cold water in your yard for precautionary reasons.
- Use a stand pointing upwards before you ignite a rocket like firecracker.
- Always store fireworks away from the flammable items like gas cylinder etc.
- Buy only good quality fireworks.
